H&S and Compliance Advisor

H&S also known as Health & Safety

H&S Advisors use their skills to promote health and safety in all types of workplaces including offices, warehouses and construction sites. In addition to keeping workplaces safe, H&S Advisors evaluate how risks could be reduced and will train people to recognise these issues.

A H&S advisor can specialise in different areas including fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise and occupational diseases. Your job would include:

  • Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation
  • Carry out site inspections to make sure H&S policies are being implemented
  • Produce management report and record accidents and incidents
  • Prepare H&S strategies for businesses

Career paths into this role

  • Apprentice route
    You could qualify as an H&S Advisor whilst working in a supporting role. You study alongside your practical experience

  • Graduate route
    You’ll need an RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) accredited undergraduate or postgraduate degree. You’ll usually need 5 GCSEs (9-4) and 3 A Levels to get onto a degree course, but you might be able to use other qualifications.
