I work in the Restructuring and Recovery Department.

To understand the role of a Receiver you will be required to imagine that the property is your own and enter the mind set of; “what would you do next”…….. Sell, asset management, refurbishment, rent reviews, redevelopment and many more.

Restructuring & Recovery is a niche department dealing with stressed and distressed property assets typically on behalf of lenders where a borrower has defaulted in some way or another.

Working in this department really exposes you to all aspects of general practice arena including property management, asset management, leasing and letting, purchase and sale and much more. You will be responsible for appointing and overseeing other professionals and agreeing their fees, obtaining legal advice, producing asset plans for a broad spectrum of properties and reporting directly to the Receivers themselves together with major lenders such as Banks and Building Societies.

 This role will include many general practice surveying elements, together with elements of Law, accounting, building surveying & construction and investment management. All cases are different and provide challenges to be overcome every day without fail.

I find this role incredibly rewarding and always interesting and I am sure anybody involved in this area will feel the same.

Education

  • 9 A – C’s at GCSE’s
  • A Levels in Biology, Physical Education, Law and General Studies
  • Sponsored training scheme involving part time (day release) University studying at Northumbria University on the MRICS accredited degree course
  • BSc (Hons) Estate Management
